Elevate your carnival food game with our cheesy french fry corn dogs! Tangy tomato sauce and mustard take this classic treat to the next level.
Ingredients:
  • Tomato sauce, to serve
  • American mustard, to serve
  • 150g (1 cup) plain flour
  • 15.00 gm caster sugar
  • 4.00 gm baking powder
  • 250ml (1 cup) buttermilk
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked
  • Canola oil, to shallow fry
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese (pre-sliced), halved
  • 16 cocktail frankfurts
  • 300g frozen French fries, chopped, thawed
Instructions:
  • In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, and baking powder. Create a well in the center and pour in buttermilk and egg. Season with salt and whisk until just combined.
  • Pour enough oil into a medium non-stick frying pan to reach 3cm up the side of the pan and heat over medium heat. Wrap each frankfurt in half a slice of cheese and insert a bamboo skewer into each frankfurt. Dip the frankfurts in batches into the buttermilk mixture, then coat with French fries. Fry for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally, until they turn golden. Drain them on paper towels.
  • Spoon over a mixture of tomato sauce and mustard for a flavorful topping.
