Delicious crab bake with creamy sauce and buttery crust.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 pound cooked crabmeat
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 green bell pepper, minced
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • cayenne pepper to taste
  • 2 slices white bread, crumbled into fine breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously butter a 9x9-inch baking dish.
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the margarine. Add the flour and cook until the bubbles begin to subside. Whisk in the milk until thickened. Mix in crabmeat, Worcestershire sauce, green pepper, and beaten egg. Season with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir constantly until thick, then spoon into the prepared baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs with melted butter until evenly moistened. Sprinkle the buttery breadcrumbs over the crab mixture.
  • Bake in the hot oven until the casserole sets and the bread crumbs turn golden brown, for about 10 to 15 minutes.
