Vibrant red cake with luscious cream cheese frosting, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 cups self-rising flour
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 ounces red food coloring
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), then generously grease and flour three 8-inch round pans.
  • Combine sugar, oil, and eggs in a large bowl. Mix in food coloring and vinegar with the buttermilk. In a separate bowl, combine baking soda and flour. Alternately add flour and buttermilk mixtures to the sugar mixture. Stir in vanilla. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until fully cooked. Let it cool on wire racks after removing from the oven.
  • Combine rich cream cheese, velvety butter or margarine, powdered confectioners' sugar, and a splash of aromatic vanilla. Fold in crunchy nuts. Spread this luscious frosting over the cooled cake.
