Indulgent red wine-poached pears filled with luscious chocolate sauce, a decadent treat for any occasion.
Ingredients:
  • 4 pears, peeled, or more to taste
  • 1.5 cups red wine
  • 0.66666668653488 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 star anise pod
  • 1 (11 ounce) jar chocolate sauce (such as Fran's®)
Instructions:
  • Trim the bottoms off the pears and core from the bottom to create a flat base for the pears to stand on.
  • In a large saucepan, create a flavorful mixture by combining wine, water, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and star anise, then bring it to a boil. Reduce heat and carefully place pears on their sides in the saucepan. Simmer gently for 10 to 12 minutes. Flip the pears and simmer until they are tender and easily pierced with a fork, which should take about 8 to 10 minutes. You can work in batches if necessary.
  • Place pears upright in a serving dish after removing from wine mixture. Boil wine sauce until reduced to about 3/4 cup, for an additional 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Stuff each pear's hollow center with rich, velvety chocolate sauce, then generously drizzle with decadent wine sauce.
