Oven baked ribs glazed with sweet and tangy barbecue sauce, charred to perfection on the grill.
Ingredients:
  • 2 (2 pound) slabs baby back pork ribs
  • coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ground red chile pepper
  • 2.25 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup minced onion
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 0.5 cup tomato paste
  • 0.5 cup white vinegar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2.5 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark molasses
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons whiskey
  • 1.25 teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Cut each full rack of ribs in half to create 4 half racks. Season generously with a mixture of salt and black pepper, making sure to add more black pepper than salt. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of ground chile pepper evenly over the meat.
  • Wrap each half rack in shiny aluminum foil to lock in all the delicious flavors. Bake in the preheated oven for a mouthwatering 2 hours and 30 minutes until perfectly tender.
  • Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Sauté onion for 5 minutes until golden brown. Add water, tomato paste, vinegar, brown sugar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, molasses, salt, garlic powder, whisky, ground chile pepper, liquid smoke, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then simmer uncovered for 1 hour and 15 minutes until thickened. Set aside the sauce once done.
  • Prepare your outdoor grill by preheating it to high heat and lightly oiling the grates.
  • Take the ribs out of the oven and allow them to rest for 10 minutes before unwrapping them from the foil.
  • Grill ribs for 3 to 4 minutes per side, brushing with sauce right before serving to prevent burning.
