Delicious and playful fruity pie recipe perfect for all ages.
Ingredients:
  • 4 large granny smith apples, peeled, cored, cut into thick wedges
  • 20.00 gm caster sugar
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 4 sheets filo pastry, halved crossways
  • Icing sugar mixture, to dust
  • Cream, to serve
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat your oven to 190°C. 2. In a large saucepan over high heat, combine the apple and water and bring to a boil. 3. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 10 minutes until the apple softens. 4. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar and cinnamon. 5. Allow the mixture to cool for 30 minutes before using.
  • Transfer the apple mixture into a 1.25L (5-cup) ovenproof dish. Lay out filo sheets on a clean surface and cover with a tea towel to keep them moist. Lightly spray one sheet with olive oil, fold in half, scrunch it into a rosette, and place it on top of the apple mixture. Repeat with the remaining filo sheets.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until golden. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with cream.
