Famous Singaporean spicy dish loved by tourists and locals alike!
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound whole Dungeness crab
  • 5 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 0.75 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 5 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 7 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons chopped shallots
  • 10 red chili peppers, pounded with seeds
  • 0.75 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 4 green onions, minced
Instructions:
  • Clean and rinse the crabs thoroughly, carefully remove the claws, crack the shells, and then section the body into 4 to 6 pieces.
  • Combine the ketchup, water, cornstarch, and soy sauce in a large bowl.
  • In a heated skillet with oil, sauté garlic and shallots until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Next, add the chili and continue to cook for an additional 2 minutes. Finally, add crab pieces and fry until they turn red, approximately 4 minutes.
  • Mix the sauce into the skillet until the crabs are thoroughly coated. Cover and simmer on high heat for 7 minutes or until the shells become vibrant red.
  • Uncover the dish and blend in the tangy lime juice. Add the whisked egg and cook until completely set. Finish off by gently folding in the vibrant green onions.
