Overnight French toast casserole: Layer bread with sweet syrup and egg mixture, chill, then bake for a crowd-pleasing breakfast.
Ingredients:
2tablespoons light corn syrup
0.5 cupbutter
1cup packed brown sugar
1 (1 pound) loaf unsliced white bread, with crust trimmed
5eggs
1.5 cups milk
1tablespoonvanilla extract
0.25 teaspoonsalt
Instructions:
In a saucepan, gently simmer light corn syrup, butter, and sugar until it thickens into a syrup. Then, pour the mixture evenly into a 9x13-inch pan.
Arrange the sliced bread over the syrup in a single layer, ensuring full coverage.
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt. Pour the mixture over the bread, cover with plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for 8 hours or overnight.
Heat your oven to a toasty 350°F (175°C).
Place in the oven already heated at 350°F and bake for 45 minutes.
Cut the dish into appealing squares and elegantly present them before serving.
