Enjoy a flavorful slow-cooker chili made with Make-Ahead Seasoned Ground Beef and Sausage for a deliciously hearty and warming meal.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1/2 lb bulk Italian pork sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 1 can (28 oz) whole tomatoes, undrained, cut up
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • 1 can (15 oz) spicy chili beans, undrained
  • 1 can (15 oz) Progresso™ chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained, rinsed
  • Sour cream, if desired
  • Sliced green onions, if desired
Instructions:
  • In a 10-inch skillet, sauté the beef, sausage, and onion over medium-high heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meat is fully cooked; then drain the excess fat.
  • Prepare your slow cooker by spraying it with cooking spray. Combine the beef mixture and all the remaining ingredients in the cooker, except for the sour cream and green onions.
  • Cover the dish and let it cook on the Low heat setting for 7 to 8 hours. Serve by topping each individual portion with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of diced green onions.
