Tender round steak cubes and caramelized onions in a savory beef gravy, perfect with mashed potatoes or noodles.
Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, divided
  • 6 (4 ounce) cube steaks (pounded round meat)
  • 1 large onion, sliced into strips
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a Dutch oven or a deep iron skillet, heat oil. Coat steaks with some flour, saving the rest. Sear steaks in batches in the oil and set aside. Once all steaks are browned, layer sliced onions, steaks, and onions. Pour in beef stock and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Bake the covered pan in the preheated oven for 2 hours. Take out the steaks and onions, then whisk in 2 tablespoons of the leftover flour. Heat over medium heat until thickened, stirring continuously. Serve the steaks and onions with the gravy alongside mashed potatoes or noodles.
