Classic spaghetti bolognese, the ultimate comfort food favorite.
Ingredients:
  • 18.20 gm olive oil
  • 20g butter
  • 2 brown onions, halved, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 500g beef mince
  • 145g (1/2 cup) tomato paste
  • 250ml (1 cup) dry red wine
  • 2 x 400g cans diced tomatoes
  • 20.00 ml oregano leaves
  • 3 dried bay leaves
  • Salt & freshly ground black pepper
  • 82.50 ml fresh continental parsley, loosely packed, coarsely chopped
  • 375g dried Italian Spaghetti
  • 80g parmesan, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, heat oil and butter until sizzling. Sauté onion and garlic for 3 minutes until onion softens. Add mince and stir with a wooden spoon for 5 minutes until browned.
  • Combine tomato paste, wine, tomatoes, oregano, and bay leaves in a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer for 1 hour until sauce thickens, and stir occasionally. Season with salt and pepper, then add parsley before serving.
  • Cook the spaghetti in a large saucepan of salted boiling water according to package directions until it's firm to the bite (al dente). Drain the spaghetti.
  • Portion the spaghetti into individual serving bowls, generously ladle the rich bolognaise sauce on top, sprinkle with freshly grated parmesan, and enjoy promptly.
