Savory potato pie topped with sweet almonds, baked to perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 cups mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1.6666667461395 cups evaporated milk
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup light brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground mace
  • 0.25 pound butter
  • 1.5 cups sliced almonds
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Blend sweet potatoes, evaporated milk, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, salt, ginger, and nutmeg until smooth. Pour the filling into the crust.
  • Create the topping by mixing flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and mace. Use a pastry knife to blend the butter into the mixture until you get coarse crumbs. Add nuts and stir.
  • Spread topping evenly over filling and bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 50 minutes, or until golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
