Grandma's sour cream pound cake: comforting and versatile for any occasion.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 pound butter
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a gentle 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) while you generously grease and flour a tube pan.
  • Cream together butter, sugar, and shortening using an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Gradually add eggs one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated before adding the next.
  • In a separate bowl, combine sifted flour and baking powder. Gradually add this mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk and sour cream. Stir in vanilla and lemon extracts before transferring the batter to the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
