Rich whole wheat bread enhanced with honey, cocoa powder, and instant coffee for a flavorful twist.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour, or more if needed
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package rapid rise yeast
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
Instructions:
  • In a mixing bowl, mix yeast, honey, butter, salt, warm water, instant coffee, and cocoa powder. Gradually add 3 cups of flour and combine by hand until a ball forms. Transfer to a floured surface. If sticky, knead in an additional 1/2 cup of flour. Knead dough for about 15 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a bowl greased with oil and cover it with plastic wrap and a kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour. Deflate the dough and transfer it onto a lightly floured surface. Flatten the dough into a rectangle, pushing down with your hands to release any air bubbles. Fold the dough into thirds, gently roll it to form a loaf shape, and pinch the seam to seal. Shape the dough into a freeform loaf and put it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Cover the dough with a dusting of flour and a cozy kitchen towel, letting it rise until doubled in size, approximately 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Uncover the loaf and make three slashes on top using a serrated knife. Be creative with your cuts!
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the bottom of the loaf sounds hollow when tapped. Then, transfer the bread from the pan to a wire rack to cool.
