Family favorite lasagna recipe with a blend of tried-and-true flavors. Kid-approved and worth the time investment.
Ingredients:
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 1.5 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1.5 tablespoons garlic salt
  • 1 (28 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes
  • 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
  • 1 cup water
  • 0.5 cup margarine
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 quart milk
  • 1 (16 ounce) package lasagna noodles
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil and saute onions until soft. Add ground beef and cook until evenly browned. Drain excess fat and season with Italian seasoning, rosemary, garlic salt, salt, and pepper. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, and water. Simmer for 1 hour until the sauce thickens.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter until sizzling. Add onion and sauté till soft. Whisk in flour until creamy, then sprinkle in Parmesan cheese followed by milk. Simmer, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. Let it cool slightly before gently folding in the egg. (The sauce should be luxuriously thick.)
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Boil a pot of lightly salted water. Cook pasta for 8 to 10 minutes until al dente, then drain. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Create a delicious tower of noodles, meat sauce, cheese sauce, ricotta, and mozzarella in the baking dish. Layer them again and again to your liking, or assemble an extra pan for freezing for later enjoyment.
  • Place in a warm oven for 60 minutes, then allow to cool for 15 minutes before enjoying.
