Herb-infused roast turkey, perfectly juicy and tender, cooked hassle-free in an oven bag.
Ingredients:
  • Reynolds® Oven Bag, turkey size
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 (8 pound) turkey, fresh or thawed*
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Coat the Reynolds® Oven Bag with flour and then place it in a deep roasting pan. Optionally, spray the inside of the bag with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking, especially when cooking large turkeys.
  • Place the vegetables in the oven bag. Remove the neck and giblets from the turkey. Rinse the turkey, dry it gently, and brush with oil. Mix the seasonings in a small bowl, then sprinkle and rub them evenly over the turkey.
  • Lay the turkey on a bed of vegetables inside an oven bag.
  • Seal the oven bag with the included nylon tie and make six half-inch slits on the top. Insert the meat thermometer through one of the slits into the thickest part of the inner thigh without touching the bone, then tuck the ends of the bag into the pan.
  • Bake until thermometer shows 180°F or follow times below*.
  • Allow the turkey to rest in the oven bag for 15 minutes. Then, carefully cut open the top of the bag and use two carving forks to lift the turkey out, placing one fork in each end of the turkey.
