Elevate your meals with homemade gravy that beats store-bought any day!
Ingredients:
  • Turkey giblets (gizzard, heart, neck and liver)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup turkey drippings (fat and juices from roasted turkey)
  • 1/2 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • Browning sauce, if desired
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Bring gizzard, heart, and neck to a boil in salted water; then simmer covered for 1 to 2 hours until tender. Add liver for the last 10 minutes. Save the liquid for gravy. Finely chop the giblets after removing them from the neck. Refrigerate the liquid and giblets until needed.
  • Transfer the succulent roasted turkey to a cozy platter and cover to keep warm. Carefully pour the flavorful drippings from the roasting pan into a bowl, being sure to leave behind any brown bits in the pan. Pour 1/2 cup of the drippings back into the pan (be precise to avoid a greasy gravy). Add flour and stir over low heat until the mixture is smooth and bubbling; then remove from heat.
  • Combine reserved giblet liquid with water to make 4 cups, then add it to the flour mixture. Heat mixture until boiling while stirring constantly. Boil and stir for 1 minute. Add chopped giblets and a few drops of browning sauce, then season with salt and pepper.
