Show your team spirit with these Tar Heel-inspired sugar cookies: dipped in frosting and decked out in team colors.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • Butter and egg called for on cookie mix pouch for drop cookies
  • 1 cup from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting (from 16-oz container)
  • Light blue candy sprinkles and decorating sugar, as desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix cookie mix, butter, and egg in a medium bowl until a soft dough forms.
  • Roll the dough into 24 balls measuring 1 1/2 inches each. Arrange them 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets and gently press down to flatten slightly.
  • Bake until edges are light golden brown and set, 8 to 10 minutes. Allow to cool for 2 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Let cool completely, approximately 30 minutes.
  • Place the frosting in a medium microwavable bowl and microwave uncovered on High for 20 to 30 seconds until warm and thin. Dip each cookie halfway into the warmed frosting, shake gently, slide the bottom of the cookie on the edge of the bowl to remove excess. Transfer the cookies to a cooling rack over a cookie sheet or waxed paper. Sprinkle candy sprinkles or decorating sugar on the dipped half of each cookie. Repeat this process with the remaining cookies. Reheat the frosting if it cools too much. Allow the cookies to stand for about 3 hours until set.
  • Store in airtight container at room temperature with layers separated by wax paper.
