Tuna steaks coated in spicy wasabi pea crumbs and drizzled with marinade reduction.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon five-spice powder
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons sake
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons tamari
  • 0.25 cup sesame oil
  • 2 pounds ahi tuna steaks, each about 1 inch thick
  • 1 pound wasabi peas, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
Instructions:
  • Combine five-spice powder, ginger, sake, rice vinegar, tamari, and sesame oil in a large bowl. Add tuna steaks, coat well, and marinate for 30 minutes.
  • Mix the crushed wasabi peas and brown sugar together. Coat the tuna steaks with the mixture. Simmer the marinade in a saucepan until reduced and thickened, about 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Sear the tuna in a skillet with a little oil over medium-high heat until cooked to your liking. Serve by pouring the sauce over the tuna.
