Slow-cooked beef brisket in rich tomato and red wine sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 (3 pound) beef brisket
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can beef broth
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 0.5 cup red wine
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Combine fragrant thyme, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl, then massage the flavorful mixture onto both sides of the brisket.
  • Heat olive oil in a roasting pan over medium-high heat. Brown brisket on both sides in the hot oil for 3 to 4 minutes per side. Remove brisket from pan and set aside.
  • Add red onion slices to the hot roasting pan and sauté until slightly softened, approximately 2 minutes. Incorporate beef broth, tomato sauce, and wine.
  • Return the brisket to the roasting pan and securely cover it with foil.
  • Roast the brisket in the preheated oven for 1 hour, then uncover, baste with pan juices, cover again, and continue roasting until very tender and the sauce thickens, for another 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
