Try our best-selling lasagna with sausage, beef, basil, and 3 cheeses - a crowd favorite!
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound sweet Italian sausage
  • 0.75 pound lean ground beef
  • 0.5 cup minced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 (6.5 ounce) cans canned tomato sauce
  • 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 4 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, divided
  • 1.5 teaspoons dried basil leaves
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt, divided, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 16 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 0.75 pound mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 0.75 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
  • Assemble all your flavorful ingredients.
  • Brown sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic in a Dutch oven over medium heat until golden and fragrant.
  • Combine crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and water in a pot. Add sugar, 2 tablespoons of parsley, basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, Italian seasoning, fennel seeds, and pepper. Cover and simmer for about 1 ½ hours, stirring occasionally.
  • In a large pot, bring lightly salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles for 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water.
  • Mix creamy ricotta cheese with a fresh egg, the remaining 2 tablespoons of vibrant parsley, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) for the perfect temperature.
  • Spread a generous layer of 1 ½ cups of meat sauce evenly in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Lay 6 noodles lengthwise over the sauce, slightly overlapping them. Smooth half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles. Layer with one-third of the mozzarella cheese slices. Pour 1 ½ cups of meat sauce on top of the mozzarella and sprinkle with 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese.
  • Create delicious layers, finishing with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Use foil to cover the dish, ensuring it doesn't touch the cheese to prevent sticking. You can spray the foil with cooking spray for an easier release.
  • After baking for 25 minutes, delicately unveil the foil and continue baking for another 25 minutes to achieve a perfectly golden finish.
  • Allow the lasagna to rest for 15 minutes prior to serving.
