"The legendary sweet potato pie recipe with a secret ingredient - a crowd favorite for generations."
Ingredients:
  • 3 large sweet potatoes
  • 5 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup butter (such as Land O'Lakes®), melted
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk (such as PET®)
  • 1 cup white sugar, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 3 pie shells, thawed
Instructions:
  • In a large pot, boil sweet potatoes until tender. Drain and mash until smooth in a large bowl.
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 425°F (220°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together beaten eggs and melted butter until fully combined. Add mixture to mashed sweet potatoes. Stir in milk, sugar, flour, vanilla, nutmeg, baking powder, and lemon juice until smooth. Evenly pour mixture into pie shells.
  • Place the pies in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Lower the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, for approximately 40 minutes. Allow the pies to cool for 15-30 minutes before refrigerating to chill completely, about 1 to 2 hours.
