Decadent French mashed potatoes with creamy cheese - perfect for special occasions.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds potatoes, peeled
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 1 pinch ground white pepper
  • 2.5 cups finely grated Gruyere cheese
  • 0.5 (8 ounce) container creme fraiche
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 pinch salt, or to taste
Instructions:
  • In a large pot, add potatoes and cover with salted water. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat to simmer until tender, approximately 20 minutes.
  • Simmer milk and cream in a saucepan until gently heated.
  • Press the drained potatoes through a potato ricer or mash them. Season with nutmeg and white pepper. Mix in warm milk, cream, grated cheese, creme fraiche, butter, and garlic until creamy and well combined. Season with salt to taste.
