Celebrate with a patriotic trifle: pound cake, whipped cream, strawberries, and blueberries layered for a festive Fourth of July treat.
Ingredients:
  • 3 pounds fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 1 quart heavy cream
  • 1 (6 ounce) container lemon yogurt
  • 1 (3.3 ounce) package instant white chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 tablespoons coconut-flavored rum, or to taste, divided
  • 2 (16 ounce) prepared pound cakes, cubed
  • 2 pints fresh blueberries, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Sprinkle sugar over strawberries in a bowl, mix well, and let it sit.
  • Chill a large metal mixing bowl and beaters in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes before using with an electric mixer.
  • In a chilled mixing bowl, combine cream, lemon yogurt, pudding mix, and roughly 1 tablespoon of coconut rum. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy.
  • First, create a decadent base by arranging bite-sized pound cake cubes in a 10x15-inch glass baking dish and drizzle them with the remaining tablespoon of coconut rum. Add a layer of fresh strawberries followed by a sprinkle of blueberries. Finally, generously top the fruit with a luscious layer of whipped cream.
  • Create layers numerous times, finishing with a layer of strawberries topped with blueberries, while setting aside 1 cup of whipped cream; garnish the trifle with dollops of whipped cream before serving. Store any remaining trifle in the refrigerator.
