Almond Orange Streusel Coffee Cake

Luxurious coffee cake with almond-brown sugar streusel center and topping, finished with sweet orange glaze.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sliced almonds
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.66666668653488 cup orange juice
  • 5 teaspoons orange juice
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease a 9-inch tube pan.
  • Combine brown sugar, almonds, and flour in a medium bowl. Incorporate butter and 1 teaspoon of orange zest, then set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, cream butter and sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in the remaining teaspoon of orange zest and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and baking soda in a large bowl. Using an electric mixer on Low speed, gradually add the egg mixture and 2/3 cups orange juice to create a batter. Spread half of the batter into a 9-inch tube pan. Sprinkle half of the brown sugar mixture over the batter. Layer with the remaining batter, then finish with the rest of the brown sugar mixture on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, then cool on a wire rack.
  • Combine 5 teaspoons of orange juice with confectioner's sugar in a small bowl, then drizzle over the cooled cake for a delicious glaze.
