Fall-inspired apple pie with a twist using a mix of apple varieties and optional cinnamon for added flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 0.66666668653488 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 2.25 pounds Pippin apples - peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1.5 tablespoons brandy
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and place the oven rack in the bottom third.
  • Combine dried cranberries, sugar, flour, and allspice in a medium bowl. Add apples, brandy, and vanilla. Line a 9-inch round pie pan with bottom crust, letting it hang 1 inch over the edges. Fill crust with mixture, cover with top crust, and seal and flute edges. Make small slits in the top crust with a knife.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
