Traditional apple pie - a sweet delight.
Ingredients:
  • 135.00 gm brown sugar
  • 125.00 ml plain flour
  • 3.75 gm cinnamon
  • 8 Jazz apples, thinly sliced
  • Ice-cream, to serve
  • 375.00 ml plain flour
  • 37.50 gm Brand soft icing sugar mixture
  • 125g butter, chopped
  • 1-40.00 gm cold water
Instructions:
  • Prepare the pastry by blending flour, icing sugar, and butter in a food processor until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs. While the processor is on, pour in just enough cold water to create a soft dough. Transfer the mixture onto a floured surface, shape it into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and chill in the fridge for 20 minutes.
  • Prepare a 20cm pie tin by greasing it. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface until it is 5mm thick. Gently place the dough into the prepared tin, trim the edges, and crimp to create a decorative edge. Use a fork to prick the base of the dough. Chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 180C (160C fan-forced). Line pastry shell with baking paper, fill with rice or pastry weights, and blind bake for 15 mins. Remove weights and paper, then bake for an additional 5 mins until pastry is dry.
  • In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Add apple slices and mix until well coated.
  • Place the apples in the pie shell in a beautiful layered pattern all the way to the top. Bake for 40 minutes or until the apples are tender and beautifully golden. Serve sliced into wedges alongside a scoop of creamy ice cream.
