Impress loved ones with a savory egg, cheese, and bacon braid.
Ingredients:
  • 6 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 6 Eggland’s Best® Large Eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 3 oz cream cheese, softened (from 8-oz package)
  • 1/4 cup cold butter
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese (8 oz)
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Cook crispy bacon in a 10-inch nonstick skillet. Remove bacon to a paper towel and set aside 1 tablespoon of bacon drippings in the skillet.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, salt, and pepper until fluffy. Pour the mixture into a skillet and cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until the eggs are just set but still slightly creamy. Remove from heat and gently fold in 3 tablespoons of green onions and the bell pepper until evenly incorporated. Let it rest.
  • In a large bowl, mix Bisquick™ with cream cheese and butter using a pastry blender or fork until crumbly. Stir in milk until dough forms. Transfer dough to a work surface dusted with Bisquick™, roll to coat, and knead 8 to 10 times.
  • Roll the dough into a 12x10-inch rectangle using a rolling pin. Gently place it onto a large ungreased cookie sheet. Spoon the egg mixture in a 4-inch strip down the center of the dough. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of bacon and 1 cup of cheese. Using a sharp knife, make 1-inch cuts along the long sides of the dough rectangle, stopping 1/4 inch away from the filling. Fold the strips over the filling, overlapping them, and leaving a 1/2-inch opening in the center.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Then sprinkle with the rest of the bacon and 1 cup of cheese, and bake for an additional 2-3 minutes until cheese melts. Finish by sprinkling with the remaining 1 tablespoon of green onions. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
