Bake these sweet Indian milk dumplings in sugar syrup for a unique bite-sized dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup non-fat milk powder
  • 0.5 cup self-rising flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup milk, or as needed
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup water
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, mix milk powder and flour. Beat in butter until creamy. Gradually add milk until a firm dough forms. Shape into 18 small balls and place on baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the gulab are lightly golden, for 12-20 minutes.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, mix confectioners' sugar, white sugar, and water. Simmer until sugars are dissolved and the mixture is syrupy, about 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Place the gulab in the saucepan and allow it to absorb the warm syrup for a minimum of 10 minutes. Ensure it has cooled down before serving.
