Try this quick and delicious Japanese rice cake BBQ recipe for an authentic taste of Japan in minutes.
Ingredients:
  • 400.00 gm premium short-grain rice or sushi rice
  • 42.00 gm soy sauce
Instructions:
  • Rinse the rice in a large sieve under cold water until clear. Drain and transfer to a saucepan. Add 3 1/2 cups water, cover, and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce to low heat and cook for 12 minutes until water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let stand for 10 minutes.
  • Fluff 3/4 cup of firmly packed rice with a fork onto a board. With damp hands, shape portions of rice into triangles and place on a tray. Repeat with remaining rice portions.
  • Preheat a barbecue grill or chargrill pan on high heat. Grill rice cakes for 1 minute 30 seconds until charred. Flip and brush the charred side with soy sauce. Grill for another 1 minute 30 seconds until charred underneath. Flip again, brush with soy sauce, and grill for 10 seconds. Transfer to a serving plate and serve.
