Delicious Japanese kebabs, great for entertaining!
Ingredients:
  • 80ml soy sauce
  • 2 lemongrass stems (inner core only), grated
  • 4.60 gm chilli oil (see note)
  • 2 tsp loose-leaf green tea
  • 1cm piece ginger, grated
  • 40.00 ml chopped coriander leaves
  • 600g beef fillet steak, cut into 3cm pieces
  • 300g jasmine rice
  • 32.50 gm Japanese furikake seasoning (see note)
  • Pickled ginger (see note), to serve
  • Mizuna (see note), to serve
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, lemongrass, chili oil, green tea, ginger, and coriander. Add beef and stir until coated. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to marinate.
  • Soak 12 small wooden skewers in cold water for 1 hour to prep for grilling.
  • Prepare the rice following the directions on the package.
  • Preheat a barbecue or chargrill pan over medium-high heat while you prepare the other ingredients.
  • Thread the drained beef onto soaked skewers and chargrill, turning, for 3-4 minutes for rare or until cooked to your liking. Let it rest, lightly covered with foil, for 2-3 minutes before serving.
  • Mix the cooked rice with the flavorful furikake seasoning. Plate the beef skewers alongside the seasoned rice, pickled ginger, and fresh mizuna for a delightful meal.
