Elevate your morning with a delicious and nutritious cheese omelette.
Ingredients:
  • 2 free-range eggs
  • 20.00 gm water
  • Salt & ground black pepper, to taste
  • 10g (2 tsp) butter
  • 30.00 ml chopped fresh curly parsley
  • 20.00 ml chopped fresh chives
  • 20g (1/4 cup) finely shredded cheese
Instructions:
  • Gather and prep all your ingredients. Opt for free-range eggs for a more flavorful omelette compared to battery-farmed eggs.
  • For best results, select a 20cm omelette pan with a thick base and shallow, gently sloping sides to evenly cook a 2-egg omelette.
  • To season your steel omelette pan before first use, pour a 1cm layer of vegetable oil into the base, sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of salt, and heat until nearly smoking. Allow it to cool to room temperature, discard the oil and salt, then wipe the pan clean with a paper towel. Avoid washing the pan; simply wipe it down with a paper towel for next time. Alternatively, special omelette pans with non-stick coatings are also an option, typically crafted with an aluminium base.
  • Whisk eggs, water, salt, and pepper until frothy. Heat butter in a hot omelette pan until sizzling, then tilt to coat. Quickly add the egg mixture to the pan.
  • With a flick of the wrist, coax the cooked egg from the edges of the pan towards the center using a fork. Tilt the pan to let the uncooked egg flow to the edges. Repeat this swift motion until the omelette is just lightly set, about 30 seconds.
  • Allow the omelette to cook undisturbed for an additional 30-60 seconds until the bottom is golden brown and the top is gently set but still a bit runny. For a firmer texture, cook slightly longer, but be mindful not to overcook.
  • Top the omelette with a blend of fresh herbs and melted colby cheese.
  • Gently fold the omelette in half using a fork to enclose the filling, allowing the cheese to melt beautifully from the heat.
  • Transfer the folded omelette onto a warm plate and serve right away.
