No-knead yeast bread that is easy to make with just a quick mix for a simple and delicious white bread.
Ingredients:
  • 1.25 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/4 cups sifted flour, warm water, shortening, sugar, salt, and yeast until well combined. Beat the mixture by hand for 300 strokes or with an electric mixer for 3 minutes. Gradually add the remaining 1 3/4 cups sifted flour, scraping the bowl often, until a smooth dough forms. Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and allow the dough to rise until doubled in volume, approximately 1 hour.
  • Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan. Gently deflate the dough which will be sticky. Transfer the dough into the pan, pat it down, and shape it with floured hands. Cover and allow to rise for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Bake uncovered dough in the preheated oven until beautifully golden brown, for about 45 minutes.
  • Take out of the oven and transfer to a cooling rack. Drizzle with melted butter and allow to cool.
