Impress your loved ones this Valentine's Day with a Giant Be My Valentine Cookie. A heart-shaped sugar cookie bursting with cherry and almond flavors - a delicious way to show you care!
Ingredients:
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1/4 cup Gold Medal™ All-Purpose Flour
  • 5 oz. cream cheese, softened (from 8 oz package)
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice
  • 1/3 cup chopped maraschino cherries
  • 1/2 cup from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting (from 16 oz container)
Instructions:
  • Combine the cookie mix, egg, and flour in a mixing bowl. Then, mix in 2 oz. cream cheese (set aside the remaining 3 oz.), 2 tablespoons butter, and almond extract until well blended. Shape the dough into a 12x13-inch heart on a large ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 375°F for 12-15 minutes until light golden brown around edges. Allow to cool on the cookie sheet for 20 minutes, then transfer carefully to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  • Using an electric mixer on low speed, blend 3 oz. cream cheese, powdered sugar, remaining butter, and cherry juice until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in maraschino cherries, then spread the mixture over the cooled cookie.
  • Fill a decorating bag with small star tip (#21) with chocolate frosting, reserving 2 tablespoons. Pipe frosting around the edges of the cookie. Use reserved frosting to pipe a message on top of the cookie. Refrigerate any leftover cookie for storage.
