Marinated steak bites rolled with green onion, broiled on skewers for a delicious appetizer.
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 tablespoons mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 0.33333334326744 cup soy sauce
  • 0.125 teaspoon monosodium glutamate (such as Aji-No-Moto®)
  • 0.33333334326744 cup white sugar
  • 1 pound beef sirloin steak, cut paper-thin
  • 3 green onions, cut into 2-inch slices
  • bamboo skewers
Instructions:
  • Combine mirin, garlic, soy sauce, monosodium glutamate, and sugar in a bowl and mix until the sugar is dissolved. Add beef and green onions to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let it marinate for 30 minutes. Soak bamboo skewers in water.
  • Preheat the broiler and position the oven rack about 6 inches below the heat.
  • Wrap each green onion piece with a slice of thin beef and secure by skewering with 2 bamboo skewers placed about 1/2 inch apart. Repeat the process with the remaining beef and green onion until all beef is rolled up. Arrange the skewers on a broiling pan and remove any used marinade.
  • Perfectly broil until beautifully golden on each side, approximately 3 to 3 1/2 minutes per side.
