Australian-inspired Apple Coconut Crumble Pie served with hot or cold custard.
Ingredients:
  • 6 large Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup custard powder
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 0.75 cup butter
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.33333334326744 cup shredded coconut
  • 0.33333334326744 cup rolled oats
Instructions:
  • In a large pot, cook apples completely covered with water until they boil. Simmer on low for 15 minutes or until soft. Drain and cool. Transfer to a large bowl and mix with 2 tablespoons of sugar until well coated.
  • Combine 1/2 cup butter and 2 tablespoons sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add the egg and mix well. In a separate bowl, combine 2 cups flour, baking powder, and custard powder. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the butter and sugar mixture. Press the crust evenly into a 9-inch springform pan.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Drain the apples and layer them into the crust. Combine 3/4 cup sugar, 3/4 cup butter, 1 1/4 cups flour, and cinnamon until crumbly. Stir in coconut and oats, then sprinkle the mixture over the apples.
  • Bake until golden brown in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Let the crumble cool in the pan before removing the sides and serving.
