Timeless butter cookie recipe passed down for generations, a favorite treat year-round.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • In a bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the creamed butter until just combined. Shape the dough into 1-inch-thick disks on a plate and refrigerate for 2 hours to overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Flatten the disks to your preferred thickness on a lightly floured work surface with a floured rolling pin, then place the dough on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until cookies are lightly golden, about 7 to 10 minutes.
