Make crispy onion rings with Bisquick® mix for a quick and easy snack.
Ingredients:
  • 1 medium sweet onion
  • 1 medium red onion
  • 1 3/4 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup beer
  • Peanut oil for frying
Instructions:
  • Slice onions into 1/2-inch rings and set aside. In a medium bowl, combine 1 1/4 cups of Bisquick mix with sugar. In a small bowl, mix buttermilk and beer, then add to the Bisquick mixture, stirring with a whisk until smooth.
  • Heat 2 inches of oil in a deep fryer or a 3-quart heavy saucepan to 375°F. Place onion rings and 1/2 cup Bisquick mix in a large resealable freezer plastic bag and shake to coat. Dip each onion ring in the batter, ensuring it's well coated. Fry the onion rings in batches in the hot oil for about 4 minutes until golden brown, turning occasionally. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
