Easy circus-themed cake for a show-stopping dessert!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • Tray or cardboard (15x12 inches), covered with paper and plastic food wrap or foil
  • 2 containers Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy or Whipped vanilla or Whipped fluffy white frosting
  • Red gel food color
  • 1/4 cup multicolored candy sprinkles
  • 1 striped paper drinking straw
  • 1 triangle colored paper
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans).
  • Prepare and bake the cake mix according to the instructions on the box in a 13x9-inch pan. Let it cool for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan onto a cooling rack. Allow the cake to cool completely, approximately 1 hour.
  • Position the cake on a tray or cardboard so the short sides create the top and bottom of a tent shape. Use a serrated knife to cut two triangular pieces from the top corners of the cake, slicing 5 inches down the long sides to shape the tent top.
  • Spread a thin coat of half of the frosting container on top of the cake, then frost again with the remaining frosting.
  • Add a few drops of red gel food coloring to the remaining frosting until you achieve your desired shade of red. Transfer the red frosting to a decorating bag with a star tip. Pipe a line of stars horizontally across the cake to separate the top and base of the cake. Create stripes on the cake, leaving a wider white section in the center for the number.
  • Use the leftover red frosting to create striped decorations on top of the cake, starting wide at the base and narrowing as they reach the top. Finish off by piping the desired number in the center of the cake.
  • Trim a 4-inch piece from the straw, then securely attach the long end of the paper triangle to it. Finally, insert the base of the straw into the top of the cake.
