Impressive crowd-pleasing berry and cream shortcake layers. Perfect for feeding a large group.
Ingredients:
  • 30 cups (7 1/2 quarts) sliced fresh strawberries
  • 3 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1 box (5 lb) Original Bisquick™ mix (18 2/3 cups)
  • 5 cups milk
  • 1 2/3 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups butter or margarine, melted
  • 7 1/2 containers (8 oz each) frozen whipped topping, thawed
Instructions:
  • Combine fresh, juicy strawberries with a generous 3 3/4 cups of sugar in a large 8-quart bowl; set aside for later use.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F. In a large mixing bowl, combine Bisquick mix, milk, 1 2/3 cups sugar, and butter until a soft dough forms. Spread the dough evenly in 4 ungreased 13x9-inch pans.
  • Bake until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 15 to 20 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before serving with fresh strawberries and whipped topping.
