Mexican anise and wine cookies, ideal for dipping in coffee.
Ingredients:
1cupshortening
1cupmargarine
1.5 cups white sugar
2eggs
1teaspoonanise extract
1teaspoonvanilla extract
6cups all-purpose flour
0.5 cupwine
3teaspoons baking powder
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Combine the shortening, margarine, and sugar in a mixer until well blended. Add the remaining ingredients and mix until smooth.
Roll out on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 1/2 or 1/4 inch.
Cut the dough into your favorite shapes and arrange on baking sheets. Bake until beautifully golden, about 10-12 minutes. Finish by adding your favorite garnishes or enjoy them plain.
