Mexican anise and wine cookies, ideal for dipping in coffee.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon anise extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup wine
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine the shortening, margarine, and sugar in a mixer until well blended. Add the remaining ingredients and mix until smooth.
  • Roll out on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 1/2 or 1/4 inch.
  • Cut the dough into your favorite shapes and arrange on baking sheets. Bake until beautifully golden, about 10-12 minutes. Finish by adding your favorite garnishes or enjoy them plain.
