Elevate banana bread with a unique blend of dark chocolate, fragrant lavender, and zesty orange - a perfect pairing for your favorite tea.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup mashed banana
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons grated fresh orange zest
  • 2 teaspoons dried orange peel
  • 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 cup chopped bitter chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon dried lavender flowers
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar for decorating
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prep a 5x9-inch loaf pan by greasing and lining it with parchment paper.
  • Cream together banana, sugar, butter, and shortening until smooth. Incorporate eggs. Add fresh orange zest, dried orange peel, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix in flour. Gently fold in chocolate and lavender. Spoon batter into loaf pan and sprinkle with coarse sugar crystals before baking.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
