Elevate your sandwich with succulent braised brisket.
Ingredients:
  • 1.7kg piece beef brisket, fat scored
  • 125ml (1⁄2 cup) red wine
  • 250ml btl Steak Sauce
  • Buttered bread, to serve
  • Coleslaw, to serve
  • Cornichons, to serve
  • Fresh parsley leaves, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat a large casserole dish over high heat. Place the brisket, fat side down, and cook for 5 minutes to release the fat. Then, cook for an additional 8 minutes until both sides are nicely browned. Remove to a plate.
  • Pour the wine into the casserole dish and let it simmer for 3 minutes until it reduces by half. Stir in the steak sauce and 750ml (3 cups) water, then add the beef. Bring everything to a boil, then cover and simmer on low heat for 4 hours or until the beef is very tender. Remove the brisket to a plate, cover, and keep it warm. Increase the heat to high and simmer the liquid for 15-20 minutes until it thickens into a sauce.
  • Thinly slice the brisket and arrange it on a platter alongside the reduced sauce, buttered bread, coleslaw, cornichons, and parsley for a DIY sandwich bar experience.
