Elevate bread pudding with the sweet tang of apples and craisins for a decadent dessert perfect for any celebration.
Ingredients:
16slicesraisin bread, crusts removed
30g butter
800g can apple pie fruit
125.00 ml craisins
2.50 gm ground cinnamon
257.50 gm milk
4.40 gm vanilla extract
pure cream, to serve
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 180°C and prepare a 22cm round cake pan by lightly greasing it and lining it with baking paper.
Butter both sides of the bread slices and then cut them diagonally to create delicious triangular halves.
Arrange one-third of the bread slices in a single layer at the bottom of the pan. Toss together apples, craisins, and cinnamon in a bowl. Spread half of the apple mixture over the bread layer. Repeat with the remaining slices and apple mixture, ending with a final layer of bread.
In a medium jug, vigorously whisk together yolks, eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla. Pour the decadent mixture over the bread, then let it sit for 10 minutes to soak up all the delicious flavors.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the custard sets and the bread is lightly browned. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving warm, garnished with powdered sugar and a drizzle of cream.
