Indulgent bread pudding with custard, dried fruit, and warm spices for a comforting dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 8 slices stale bread
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup dried currants
  • 1.75 cups milk
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 9-inch round pie dish or cake pan.
  • Butter both sides of the bread slices and cut them into triangles. Place a single layer of the buttered bread in the prepared pan, overlapping slightly.
  • Sprinkle half of the sugar and 1/2 cup of currants. Layer the rest of the bread on top and finish by sprinkling the remaining sugar.
  • Whisk together milk, eggs, and nutmeg in a bowl. Pour over bread and press down firmly to boost absorption of the delicious milk mixture.
  • Bake in the oven until perfectly golden and set, for about 30-40 minutes.
