Spicy, fruity bread made effortlessly at home.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ Better for Bread™ flour
  • 1 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground mace
  • 2 teaspoons bread machine or quick active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries or raisins
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 tablespoons cranberry-orange relish or sauce
Instructions:
  • Carefully measure and place all bread ingredients in the bread machine pan following the manufacturer's instructions. Add cranberries when the Raisin/Nut signal sounds, or 5 to 10 minutes before the final kneading cycle finishes.
  • Choose either the Whole Wheat or Basic/White cycle with a Medium or Light crust color. Avoid using the delay cycle. Take out the baked bread from the pan and let it cool on a cooling rack.
  • Blend butter and cranberry-orange relish in a small bowl until smooth. Enjoy with freshly baked bread. Remember to refrigerate any leftover butter.
