Effortlessly whip up delicious whole wheat buns in your bread machine with yeast, honey, molasses, and chia seeds.
Ingredients:
  • 1.25 cups warm water
  • 1 egg
  • 1.5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 3.75 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 3 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • cooking spray
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted, or more as needed
Instructions:
  • Add all the ingredients - warm water, egg, olive oil, honey, molasses, chia seeds, whole wheat flour, salt, and yeast - into the bread machine according to the manufacturer's instructions. Select the Dough cycle and let it run. Once the cycle is complete, after about 1 hour and 30 minutes, take out the dough from the machine.
  • Prepare the baking sheet with a light coating of nonstick spray. Shape the dough into 12 buns and place them on the baking sheet. Allow the buns to double in size, which should take around 55 minutes.
  • Heat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Place the buns in the preheated oven and bake until they turn a lovely golden brown, which takes around 14 minutes. Allow them to cool for 10 minutes before moving them to a wire rack. Finish by giving them a generous brush of melted butter.
