Master the art of baking a delicious butter cake with just 12 simple steps.
Ingredients:
  • 250g butter, softened
  • 215.00 gm caster sugar
  • 4.40 gm vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 300g self-raising flour
  • 128.75 gm milk
  • Butter icing, to decorate
  • Strawberry jam, to decorate
  • White icing flours, to decorate
Instructions:
  • Ensure eggs, milk, and butter are at room temperature. Preheat oven to 180C. Grease and line the base of two 20cm round cake pans.
  • With an electric mixer, whip together the butter, sugar, and vanilla in a bowl until light and smooth. Gradually add the eggs one by one, beating thoroughly after each addition.
  • Alternate adding the flour and milk in batches until just combined. Divide the mixture evenly among the prepared pans and use a spoon or small knife to smooth the surface. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the centers comes out clean.
  • After baking, let the cake cool in the pan for five minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack. Place one cake on a serving platter, spread icing and jam if desired, top with the remaining cake, and decorate with more icing and icing flowers.
