Indulgent butter cake recipe with pantry staples. Perfect as-is or customize with fresh blueberries for a fruity twist.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 cup butter, room temperature
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 0.75 cup milk, room temperature
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and prepare an 8-inch square baking pan by greasing it lightly and lining the bottom with parchment paper or dusting it lightly with flour.
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt by sifting them together.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy using an electric mixer. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture in half-cup portions, alternating with milk. Beat the batter briefly after each addition until just blended.
  • Transfer the batter into the greased pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
