Indulge in crispy breaded frog legs with savory garlic butter sauce - a favorite in Asian seafood spots. Bon appétit!
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound frog legs, rinsed and patted dry
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • Oil for deep frying
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 0.75 cup cornstarch or tapioca starch
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • Salt to taste
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons chili paste or sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 0.5 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions:
  • Combine frog legs in a bowl with a mix of 2 teaspoons sugar, garlic salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat evenly and marinate for 30 minutes.
  • In a large, heavy pot, heat at least 2 inches of oil to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Coat the frog legs in beaten egg and allow excess to drip off. Then, coat in cornstarch and shake off any extra. Fry in hot oil until golden brown and fully cooked, about 4 to 5 minutes, turning once for even cooking.
  • As the frog legs cook, melt butter in a small skillet over medium heat, then add 2 teaspoons of minced garlic. Sauté gently for about 3 minutes until the garlic softens, and season with salt to taste.
  • After cooking the frog legs, drain them on paper towels, then transfer to a serving dish. Top with garlic-butter sauce and serve with dipping sauce.
  • Combine soy sauce, lime juice, chili paste, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of minced garlic in a small bowl. Add sesame oil to taste for an extra kick.
